We read the play
Every frame starts a second before it happens. We shoot for the frames your team keeps.

The runner comes in, feet first. The fielder is protecting the base. The tag is on, but everything else is in the air.

The coach gets to his goalie first, a hand on the mask, grin already there. No speech, no line change. The grin says it. Some nights the guy in the crease is the whole story.

He is already turned into the shot, glove out, everything in the frame moving toward one point in the air. A goalie can carry a whole night on a reach like this. Half a second later the rink finds out which way it went.

Helmet against helmet, sticks down, and the linesman's glove still holding the puck. Nothing has happened yet and everything is about to. Half a second from now the whole rink moves at once.

Warmup is the loose part of the night, before the game tightens up. One puck flipped off the blade, spinning, and one set of eyes locked on it. Nothing counts yet. The hands are already sharp.
